Carved Rock Compass
Gilbert Ward (possibly) (year unknown)
This mysterious set of markings can be found on the rocks where 'Chieftain in a Hot Spot' was located, on the hill up towards Bogle Crag. Its proximity and thematic similarity to Gilbert Ward's 'Celtic Ring' are the only reasons I've attributed it to that artist, but really it could have been done by anyone with the tools for the job and a certain amount of artistic flair.
It may be small and relatively unknown but it's a neat piece of work which must have taken a substantial effort. When you look at the style of Ward's piece, with its smoothly-carved curves, the likeness becomes clearer. Of course, it may have been the work of some Gilbert Ward superfan who wanted to create a tribute to the artist, in which case hats off to them.
