Not the best seat for a picnic, 'Lone Seat' could once upon a time be found at the far end of the Ridding Wood Trail and was less of a bench, more of a slim, tall-backed chair. As Meg Falconer comments in 'Natural Order':
"Nigel's 'Lone Seat' is an uncomfortable throne, a chair carved from one piece of wood. Is it a statement of isolation and inaccessibility? Is it to emphasise the impossibility of access or a challenge to a disability? It is certainly not a place to rest, and has a sad quality about it."
