Time Flies

Jeremy Cunningham 1993

'Time Flies' was one of two sculptures by Jeremy Cunningham on the Ridding Wood trail, along with 'Axe Life Cycle'. This one stood on the top route just after the big bridge and took the form of a huge telescope which pointed at the peak of Carron Crag on the other side of the valley. It was good, but slightly rickety and was removed a couple of years later, perhaps to prevent it falling down.

That's me and my sister there, which means I should probably credit my mum with the photograph.

More recently, Jeremy Cunningham was commissioned to create a monument at the birthplace of the artist Henry Moore, and to mark this, he carved a sculpture from sixty tonnes of stone for the occasion.
