Rabbit II

Alan Grimwood 1984

The inspiration for Alan Grimwood's second 'Rabbit' sculpture can perhaps be found in this telling quote regarding his first:

"I wanted a friendly image to come across and one that could simply be enjoyed. I feel this was achieved because after a few weeks the site had turned into a popular picnic place, with children climbing over the sculpture."

A second 'Rabbit' appeared, consequently, at Satterthwaite playground, which can be found down a track just to the north of the village. I've never seen a picture of the piece but it is probably a safe assumption to imagine it looks similar to the original 'Rabbit' sculpture.
