Terry Storry 2003
This neat, yet sturdy structure sat at the beginning of the Ridding Wood Trail for ten years or so. It was the work of Terry Storry, an outdoor adventure specialist who taught at St Martin's College in Ambleside. He was revered by the canoeing community; he wrote 'British White Water: The 100 Best Canoeing Rivers' and was seen as something of an authority on the subject. Sadly, in 2004, only a year after he came to Grizedale, he was killed in a climbing accident at the age of 54.
