Steve Messam's installation 'Intrastellar 2020' was due to be placed at Grizedale Tarn as part of the Cumbria Dark Skies Festival, and was supposed to consisted of several glowing spheres which floated on the surface of the water. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak of 2020, the exhibition was delayed until further notice, with a view to going ahead in the Autumn of that year. To my knowledge, it still hasn't happened at the time of writing.
The Dark Skies Festival is aimed at turning people's attention to the skies above Cumbria. Due to the relative lack of light pollution from villages and towns, the Lake District has some of the darkest skies in England, as anyone who has been camping in this corner of the country will attest. The press release for the Cumbria Dark Skies Festival line-up said of 'Intrastellar 2020':
"By day, the pure white spheres float on Grizedale Tarn, adding a purity of form in a wild environment, while by night the tarn is transformed by their gentle glow in the darkness into an echo of the stars in the dark skies above."
