Her Insistent Stream

Hilary Cartmel 1985

Hilary Cartmel's 'Her Insistent Stream' sits on an island in the river at Force Forge, right at the very bottom of the forest. This is what Cartmel had to say about the process of making her:

"I had a great deal of contact with the forest workers. Nine of the forest workers helped me move my first sculpture onto its site down a steep bank and over a stream to one of the islands above Force Falls. The huge oak trunk I carved into 'Her Insistent Stream' was said to be only fit for firewood, but it proved excellent for my purpose."

I've made several attempts to get across to her and have succeeded only once, with one attempt ending in myself and my friend Ken actually falling in the river. The photo I've got from the single successful river crossing is rubbish, so I don't even have any proof that I got over there.
