Light Column II
Charles Bray 1995
When Light Columns II and III were built on a rocky outcrop up at High Bowkerstead, the surrounding area had just been felled and the two sculptures were visible from miles around, but nowadays you may have to look slightly harder to spot these two ornate pillars. Light Column II is the one on the right as you look at them from the road.
Charles Bray is a name which is spoken with due reverence in glass art circles. A Salfordian born and bred, he helped to set up what would become the Contemporary Glass Society, an organisation which provides support to artists working with glass.
